Shift Technology has launched Shift Claims, a next-generation platform powered by agentic artificial intelligence to transform insurance claims operations. Designed to assess and prioritize cases, assist handlers, and automate tasks across the claims lifecycle, Shift Claims aims to reduce claims leakage, accelerate resolution times, lower handling costs, and improve the policyholder experience. Eric Sibony, Chief Scientist and CPO, highlights that previous claims transformation efforts failed due to the complexity of claims and the limitations of rules-based systems—challenges that agentic AI is specifically designed to overcome. This technology enhances automation where possible while providing actionable guidance when human expertise is needed. AXA Switzerland is among the early adopters, with COO Markus Keller noting improvements in efficiency and decision-making for claims professionals. Since integrating generative AI in 2024, Shift has applied large language models to document summarization, classification, and liability determination. Agentic AI expands on this by enabling models to use tools that perform task-specific actions. Early users report a 3% reduction in claim losses, 30% faster handling times, 60% automation, and over 99% accuracy in assessments. Shift believes this innovation positions insurers to lead the future of claims management with greater efficiency, adaptability, and innovation.
