Agentic AI is the future, and the future is now

Written by Shift Technology | 21-Apr-2026 04:00:01

Shift has been a pioneer in artificial intelligence (AI) for the global insurance industry since our founding in 2014. That pioneering spirit continues with our “Agent First” approach to delivering AI for insurance.

Shift led the charge to use AI in the fight against insurance fraud. Over the years we extended those capabilities to critical claims, underwriting and risk workflows across P&C, health and life insurance. We integrated generative AI into our products in 2024 and agentic capabilities in 2025.

With the rapid advancements in agentic models, we have quickly evolved from building products that use agents to offering agents as products. We are delivering agents that transform insurers’ most critical work, and doing so in a way that remains true to what has made Shift a leader in insurance AI for more than 10 years.

  • We have unmatched, insurance trained AI-ready data, built on billions of claims, policies, contextual data and outcomes.
  • We have deep insurance expertise and our understanding of the processes, workflow, and systems that make insurance work is unparalleled.
  • Our AI agents are built to empower insurance workers, enabling them to work smarter and serve better and we know the importance of human-in-the-loop, increasing accuracy, and ensuring every action is transparent and auditable.
  • We have a proven track record of delivering AI at scale; our solutions reduce losses, improve efficiency, and produce superior customer experiences, earning the trust of hundreds of the most demanding insurers around the world.

This is a natural next step in Shift’s evolution. We were among the first to apply ML to fraud detection, early innovators in insurance‑trained LLMs, and now we’re productising agentic capabilities so carriers can safely scale automation across key processes. Agent First doesn’t replace our products — it makes them more modular, more transparent, and more aligned to how insurers want to operate: pragmatic, governed, and outcome‑driven.
